West Ham United v Arsenal Match Preview & Best Odds

Kick-off: 7.30pm UK Time, Wednesday 1st November 2023

Arsenal will be going all-out to inflict a fourth successive defeat on city rivals West Ham United when the two sides lock horns at the London Stadium in the EFL Cup on Wednesday evening.

Having made it to the League Cup Final back in 1981, West Ham United have yet to win the competition and their chances of adding silverware to the trophy cabinet this season are looking very slight judging by recent results. David Moyes’ men took 70 minutes to find the single goal which sent them past League One side Lincoln City in the last round of the competition and alarm bells are starting to sound following disappointing defeats to the likes of Aston Villa (4-1), Olympiacos (2-1 in Europa League) and Everton (1-0). The latter match was the first time since the start of the year that Moyes’ men have failed to find the back of the net on home soil and the chances of them getting the better of Arsenal in this midweek affair look rather slim.

The Gunners have gone ten games without defeat in the Premier League since the start of the season and as things stand they sit second to arch-rivals Tottenham Hotspur in the table. Few Gunners fans will lose any sleep should their side get dumped out of this competition on Wednesday evening but having failed to lift this particular trophy since 1992/93, many will feel that some mid-season silverware is long overdue. Arsenal have proven themselves to be a tough nut to crack on their travels this season and while both teams will feature a certain amount of squad rotations for this clash, we envisage the visitors making the most of the Hammers’ dip in form.
