Premier League Sack Race

  • Slaven Bilic is favourite to be next managerial casualty in the top-flight
  • The odds on Chris Wilder have been slashed from 14/1 to 3/1 over the past few days
  • The Blades have been struggling near the foot of the table since the start of the campaign

After what has undeniably been a disastrous start to the season, Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder is a man under immense pressure and he now finds himself second favourite with some bookmakers to be the next managerial casualty in the Premier League.

As things stand, the Blades sit rock bottom of the Premier League table having collected just a single point from their eight league games thus far. As high as 35/1 prior to the start of the campaign, Wilder is now just 3/1 to be the fuirst top-flight manager to leave his post this term. Indeed as recently as Saturday morning he was 14/1 in the ‘Sack Race’ betting market, however his odds have been steadily shortening over the past few days.

Only Slaven Bilic sits above Wilder in the betting market, the West Bromwich Albion manager a general 5/2 punt to be next in line for the chop. Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was second-favourite until the weekend when the Red Devils brushed aside Everton at Goodison Park. The Norwegian is now 4/1 to be next Premier League managerial casualty.
