England edged past Colombia to set themselves up with a semi-final meeting with co-hosts Australia on Wednesday and the Lionesses are as low as 15/8 to lift the trophy down under.

England have secured for themselves a place in the semi-finals of the 2023 Women’s World Cup thanks to a hard-fought 2-1 win over Colombia in the last eight of the competition. Australia will give the Lionesses perhaps their biggest test of the competition thus far although the European champions will be expected to up their game for this one. Wiegman’s side have been rather shaky at times and to be fair, this is a match which could go either way. England are odds-on favourites to win in 90 minutes and claim a place in the final of the competition however and that’s the way we envisage this game going.

Having beaten Sweden in their semi-final clash, Spain are favourites to lift the trophy at a general 5/6 while Australia are outsiders to win the competition in front of their own home fans at a general 4/1.

Having thrashed China to the tune of 6-1 in their closing Group D outing, England’s Lionesses have shortened to joint-favourites to lift the trophy down under.

England have booked their place in the last sixteen of the 2023 Women’s World Cup thanks to a 6-1 demolition of China earlier this afternoon, Sarina Wiegman’s ladies cruising to victory in a one-sided encounter in Adelaide. The Lionesses have set themselves up for a meeting with Nigeria in the last sixteen of the competition.

England did concede their first and thus far only goal of the competition but the penalty made absolutely no difference in what was a stunning performance from Wiegman’s side.

Lauren James was very much the star of the match with two goals and three assists, while Lauren Hemp, Rachel Daly, Chloe Kelly and Alessio Russo also got their names onto the scoresheet as England dominated for the full 90 minutes.

England are now priced as low as 7/2 (best odds 9/2) to win the competition and the focus will now be purely on their meeting with Nigeria on Monday morning, a match in which the Lionesses are big favourites at a best price of 3/10 to win.

England got their 2023 Women’s World Cup campaign off to a flying start with a 1-0 win over Haiti in their tournament opener, however some tougher tests await the Lionesses in the coming weeks and they still have a long way to go before they can be considered realistic trophy challengers.

England Women collected all three points in a relatively unconvincing 1-0 win over plucky Haiti in their first outing of the 2023 Women’s World Cup and while Group D is deemed to be one of the easier groups, the Lionesses still have plenty of work still to do. Sarina Wiegman’s ladies still have to face Denmark and China in their group and even if they finish this stage of the competition in pole position, the side of the draw in the latter stages is potentially very tricky.

Either olympic champions Canada or co-hosts Australia (runners-up in Group B if the Lionesses finish on top of Group D) might be awaiting Wiegman’s side in the next round of the tournament, while a repeat of last summer’s European Championship Final against Germany might be on the cards in the quarter-finals should the Germans make it past France or Brazil in the last sixteen round.

In the semi-finals, England could find themselves up against Australia who put to an end the Lionesses’ 30-game unbeaten run when winning 2-0 at the Brentford Community Stadium earlier this year.

Should England make it all the way to the final of the 2023 Women’s World Cup, they could be pitted against firm favourites USA who will be aiming to secure their third successive World Cup trophy.
