Real Madrid edged past Bayern Munich in a pulsating semi-final second leg at the Bernabeu earlier this month and set themselves up with a dream date with Borussia Dortmund on 1st June.
Real Madrid are old hands in this competition, the Spanish giants having won it no less than fourteen times throughout their illustrious history. The Bernabeu outfit last lifted aloft the European trophy in 2021/22 when they beat Liverpool 1-0 at the Stade de France and they are now just one game away from adding another at Wembley on 1st June.
Borussia Dortmund ensured that Paris Saint Germain’s lengthy wait to be crowned champions of Europe would be extended when they sent the French side out of the competition in the last round. The Bundesliga side’s reward is a date with a Real Madrid who have something akin to a mystical hold on this competition. Dortmund’s one and only win in the final of the tournament came in 1996/97 when they beat Serie A side Juventus at the Olympiastadion in Munich. Since then, they have made it to one final (2012/13) where they were beaten 2-1 by Bundesliga rivals Bayern Munich at Wembley and they will be desperate to go one better in their next visit to this venue.
As for Real Madrid, one cannot use too many superlatives for their record in the competition. The Spanish side have utterly dominated the European Cup/Champions League since the competition’s inception in 1955/56 when they won the first five finals. Overall, Real have fourteen European Cups/Champions League trophies to their name and they are now just one game away from adding a fifteenth. The bookmakers make them huge favourites to lift the trophy at a best price of 3/10 and they are best odds of 4/7 to do the job in normal time.

This season’s Champions League campaign has been a real thriller with no Premier League sides making it into the last four of the competition. We’re now moving rapidly towards the final of the competition with German side Borussia Dortmund set to face either Real Madrid or Bayern Munich.
We’ve been witness to some red-hot action in this season’s Champions League and we’re now almost at the end of the competition. Borussia Dortmund ensured that PSG’s wait for European glory would be extended by sending the French side out of the competition with a 2-0 aggregate win, while Real Madrid and Bayern Munich are locked level following a 2-2 draw at the Allianz Arena last week.
Despite their failure to get victory in Germany last week, Real Madrid are odds-on favourites in the Champions League Final odds markets to get their hands on the trophy for an amazing 15th time at a best price of 19/20 while Borussia Dortmund are best odds of 5/2 to be crowned European champions for the first time since 1996/97. Bayern Munich have been European champions on six occasions and they are a best price of 3/1 to win it in 2023/24.
19/20 – Real Madrid
5/2 – Borussia Dortmund
3/1 – Bayern Munich

Having finished at the top of Group G with a perfect eighteen points collected from their six group outings, Manchester City are firm favourites to lift the trophy for the second time in succession at a best price of 15/8 while they are 10/11 to make it to the final of the tournament. Pep Guardiola’s men brushed aside FC Copenhagen to the tune of 3-1 on their travels earlier this week and they are expected to prevail when they meet the Danish side at the Etihad Stadium for the return leg next month. Having collected sixteen points from their six group matches, Bayern Munich were second favourites ahead of the start of the last sixteen phase but they have dropped down the market on the back of their 1-0 defeat at Lazio this week and they are now an 8/1 shot for the prize.
Real Madrid won the trophy in 2021/22 and the Spanish side are now second in the market to repeat this feat in 2024, the bookmakers going best odds of 23/5 that this piece of silverware is added to the Bernabeu trophy cabinet. Arsenal come in next at a best price of 6/1, the Gunners also having finished in pole position in their group with thirteen points collected from their six group outings and set for a clash with FC Porto in the last sixteen of the competition.
Elsewhere, Paris Saint-Germain are out at 12/1 for the trophy while Inter Milan, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid complete the top eight in the betting at 16/1, 20/1 and 33/1 respectively.

The 2023/24 Champions League group stages get underway this week and we can be sure of some thrilling encounters between the top European clubs over the next few months. As defending European champions, Manchester City are firm favourites to once again lift the trophy but they will face stiff competition from the likes of Bayern Munich and Real Madrid.
The battle to be crowned champions of Europe gets underway in earnest this week and reigning champions Manchester City will be eager to get things off to the best possible start when they entertain Red Star Belgrade (otherwise known nowadays as Crvena Zvezda). The likelihood is that Pep Guardiola’s men will prevail in what looks set to be a one-sided affair, however elsewhere on Tuesday evening Newcastle United have an altogether trickier affair when they travel to Italy to do battle with AC Milan at the San Siro.
On Wednesday evening, Arsenal lock horns with PSV Eindhoven at the Emirates Stadium while Manchester United will be desperate to put their Premier League concerns to one side when they face Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena.
