After a hugely disappointing 2022/23 season for Liverpool, during which Jurgen Klopp’s men failed miserably to claim any silverware, the Reds find themselves in the Europa League. This is their first appearance in Europe’s second tier club competition since they made it into the final in 2015/16 and Klopp has made it clear that his side will be going all-out to go all the way in the tournament. The Reds look like early frontrunners for the trophy but they will face some stiff competition from the outset and they do have a tendency to disappoint their ever-expectant fans.
Brighton are England’s second representatives in the Europa league thanks to their top six finish in the Premier League last term. The Seagulls are looking forward to their first ever European campaign and it will be interesting to see how they fare in this tournament. The third Premier League side in the competition are West Ham United on account of their victory in the Europa Conference League Final and they will certainly fancy their chances here.
The rest of the sides confirmed for the group stages are Real Betis, Villarreal, Roma, Atalanta, Bayer Leverkusen, SC Freiburg, Sporting Cup, Rennes and Toulouse.
Last season, Roma lost to Europa League specialists Sevilla in the final of the competition and the Spanish side will be appearing in the Champions League next season as a result.
