Aris Limassol v Rangers Match Preview & Free Bets

Kick-off: 5:45pm UK Time, Thursday 5th October 2023

Rangers will take to the pitch for the first time since the sacking of manager Michael Beale when they face Aris Limassol on their travels in the Europa League on Thursday evening.

Rangers are struggling to keep pace with Scottish Premiership leaders Celtic in the race for the league title, the Light Blues currently sitting third in the table with nine points separating them from the Hoops after just seven rounds of fixtures. The Gers lost 3-1 to Aberdeen at Ibrox in their last outing and this was the catalyst which resulted in the sacking of their under-fire boss and they will return to European action on Thursday evening with an interim management team in charge, led by Steven Davis.

Having finished second in the Scottish Premiership last season and finishing the Champions League group stages without collecting a single point in their last appearance in the competition, Rangers failed to make it into the group stages of this season’s tournament after losing to PSV in the play-off round. As such they find themselves in Europe’s second tier competition and they kicked things off with a decent 1-0 win at home to Real Betis last month. Since then the Light Blues have beaten Motherwell (1-0) and Livingston (4-0) prior to their defeat to the Dons last weekend.

Aris Limassol won the Cypriot title for the first time last season and they made it into the qualifying rounds of the Champions League, beating BATE Borisov 11-5 on aggregate in their first qualifier but losing 3-1 over two legs against Rakow Czestochowa. They made it through to the group stages of the Europa League thanks to a 7-4 aggregate victory over Slovan Bratislava and they launched their group campaign with a narrow defeat (3-2) away to Sparta Prague.

After the loss of their manager, Rangers will be eager to put their domestic woes to one side and continue their solid start to their Europa League campaign. The Scottish outfit should have enough to get past their hosts on Thursday evening but the home side will be a tough nut to crack on their own patch and we envisage Limassol adding to the scoreline in what should be a tight encounter.

Back Rangers to win 2-1 at best odds of 8/1
