Bellbet.com are once again proud to support Safer Gambling Week. This is an industry-led campaign which is backed by numerous organisations including the British Amusement Catering Trade Association (BACTA), Bingo Association (BA) and Betting & Gaming Council (BGC). 

This week-long campaign is now in its fourth year and the aim is to create awareness between staff, customers and the wider public about safer gambling and the available support tools and sources of advice and help.

By coming together through a single voice, the Safer Gambling Week campaign is able to extend its wide reach through an increasing number of supporters nationwide. This will add to the work already undertaken to widen the awareness of safer gambling as well as education and support.

Safer Gambling Week is a campaign which is led by the UK gambling industry and it’s aim is to create awareness and conversation between betting providers, customers and the general public at large. The key objectives are to make everyone aware of:

• How you can gamble more safely
• What tools are available to help enable people to gamble safely throughout the year
• What sources are available for help and advice

Gambling venues will help to promote Safer Gambling Week, both before and during the week-long event, however it should be noted that venues and betting websites provide full information and advice on safer gambling at all other times with a wide range of tools and options designed to help customers help manage their play.

What is Safer gambling?

Basically, gambling is simply a form of entertainment for which you pay. It should really be seen as nothing more than that. Effectively you are parting with money in order to be entertained for a certain amount of time, similar to purchasing a ticket for the cinema or football.

The big difference though is that you are being entertained with a chance to get some sort of return and while you could potentially walk away with more money than you started with, however if you expect this to be the case most of the time, then you’re going to be very disappointed. Let’s face it, if you were guaranteed a win each time you parted with your money, then you wouldn’t be gambling, you would simply be buying a product. Chance is what attracts people to gambling but this is also what makes this a risk.

Responsible or safer gambling means being able to gamble without putting you or your friends and family in any sort of harm. You must always ensure that you know what the odds are and that you fully understand the risks.
