Crystal Palace are tumbling down the Premier League table with the south London outfit having won just one of their last ten league outings, this dismal run culminating in a 5-0 demolition by Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium last weekend. The Eagles were once renowned for their defensive solidity under manager Roy Hodgson but they have been leaking goals at an average of a little over two per game during this ten-match run. Hodgson’s future was once again thrown into the spotlight following the thrashing at the Emirates Stadium but the veteran former Three Lions head coach will nevertheless be preparing for the visit of bottom side Sheffield United on Tuesday evening.

Sheffield United have triumphed in just one of their last six trips to Selhurst Park and their away form has been abysmal, the Blades having lost all-but-three of their last nineteen Premier League outings away from the safety of Bramall Lane. Chris Wilder’s side managed to draw level at 2-2 at the break in the FA Cup clash with Brighton & Hove Albion but the manner in which they leaked three more goals without reply in the second half of that match will be a cause for concern. The South Yorkshire side have conceded far more goals (51) than any other side in the top-flight this season and the chances are that they will fail to keep a clean sheet on Tuesday evening.

This is certain to be an intense but closely fought affair with both Crystal Palace and Sheffield United battling for survival in the Premier League. The likelihood is that there will be little to choose between two sides which have been more than capable of leaking goals at an alarming rate of late. As far as we’re concerned, a score-draw seems the most likely outcome from a match in which the home support will once again be witness to another frustrating result.
