Safer Gambling Week taking place from 18th to 24th November 2024

Safer Gambling Week 2024 will take place next month

Safer Gambling Week is an industry-wide initiative aimed at encouraging safer gambling by everyone involved. This initiative includes providing resources for parents, schools, professionals and anyone involved in the gambling industry.

Safer Gambling Week 2024 will take place from 18th to 24th November 2024 and its aims are to encourage everyone involved in the gambling industry – from bookmakers to players – to become more aware and attentive of more responsible betting practices.

Responsible play

This annual event raises awareness of potential dangers of gambling and seeks to promote more responsible play by customers, whether using land-based betting venues or online betting websites. The event is organised by Bacta (British Amusement Catering Trade Association), the Bingo Association and BGC (British Gambling Council) and involves key players in the industry roll out specifically targeted responsible betting campaigns.

Gamble safely and responsibly

Safer gambling Week is now in its eighth year and the event always receives healthy support from all the leading UK and Irish betting sites as well as all the gambling bodies and regulators, including the National Gambling Helpline. The main focus is on how to gamble safely and responsibly, with emphasis on setting deposit limits and creating time limits which define the maximum time you can spend gambling. Clearly, this is aimed at those who gamble using online websites but there is also an emphasis on players who visit ‘bricks and mortar’ high street betting venues.

Play your part in Safer Gambling Week

The leading UK bookmakers are once again getting fully behind the annual initiative and there is considerable cross-industry support from all the leading players. The Safer Gambling Week website details all of the different resources available and it also details how you can play your part by sharing social media posts and circulating campaign artwork, whether as a player or an industry professional.
