Rangers have endured a slow start to the season and following the defeat to Aberdeen at Ibrox, the decision was taken to dismiss manager Michael Beale. The search is now on for a successor and at the time of writing, former Monaco boss Philippe Clement leads the way.
So far, this hasn’t been a good season for Rangers, the Ibrox outfit already seven points behind arch-rivals Celtic after just eight rounds of Scottish Premiership fixtures. They have lost three of these eight games and the recent defeat to Aberdeen proved to be the final straw as far as the board were concerned. With Michael Beale having been sacked, the search is on for a suitable replacement and former Monaco boss Philippe Clement has emerged as an early frontrunner.
The 49-year-old has been placed on a shortlist which has been drawn up by the club board and he has an impressive CV. Clement has been out of work since leaving Monaco earlier this year and reports suggest that he is interested in the vacant position at Ibrox.
Clement has won the Belgian league title with Genk and Club Brugge and he led Monaco to the Champions League after they finished 3rd in Ligue 1 at the end of his first season in charge.
Other leading contenders for the Ibrox position include Kevin Muscat, John Eustace, Steven Davis and Derek McInnes.
