Jurgen Klopp Next Club Betting Odds: Former Reds boss 6/1 for England Post

Update: 18.07.24

Hot on the heels of Gareth Southgate’s announcement that he will step down as England manager, former Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has been installed as one of the favourites to replace him.

Klopp for England?

Germany were dumped out of the 2024 European Championship following defeat to eventual winners Spain in the quarter-finals of the competition and with Jurgen Klopp having waved goodbye to Liverpool at the end of last season, the former Reds boss is expected to take charge of the German national team. Indeed, the bookmakers go 8/15 odds-on that this becomes Klopp’s next posting, however there’s every chance that he might decide instead to remain on these shores and take charge of the Three Lions.

New appointment

England made it through to the final of Euro 2024 where they lost 2-1 to Spain and Gareth Southgate subsequently announced his departure as Three Lions boss, leaving the gate open for a new appointment. Klopp may seem a somewhat unlikely contender for the post but the bookies make England joint second-favourite in the ‘Jurgen Klopp Next Club’ betting market at 6/1, alongside Barcelona at the same price.

Interest increased

Indeed, the odds on Klopp moving to the England national team have shortened from 10/1 over the past couple of days and this is clear evidence that interest in him succeeding Gareth Southgate has increased of late. Bayern Munich are 15/2 to be Klopp’s next destination while Champions League finalists Borussia Dortmund are 15/2 to get their hands on the former Liverpool gaffer.

Update: 16.07.24

Germany were dumped out of the 2024 European Football Championship by Spain at the quarter-finals stage and there’s every chance that recently-departed former Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp might take the reins now that the tournament has come to an end.

Disappointing campaign

Jurgen Klopp left Liverpool at the end of what was a disappointing 2023/24 campaign for the Reds. In his last season in charge, the German could only steer them to one piece of silverware – the EFL Cup – when just a few months previously there was a belief that a quadruple was on the cards. Nevertheless, Klopp has now left Anfield and he is tipped to take charge of the German national team now that the 2024 European Championships have ended.

Job offer

Klopp has already had a job offer however with Tim Howard believing that he can tempt the former Reds boss to take the reins of the United States national side. Klopp would certainly fit the bill as someone who could mould together a young group of players who are able to play front-foot progressive football, however he’s not at that stage of his managerial career just yet and a move to the German national team – should an offer be forthcoming – is seen as the most likely destination for him.

Odds shortened

The odds on Klopp taking the reins at the German national team have drifted over the past few days from 2/9 to a best price of just 4/9, while a move to Barcelona is a 10/3 shot. Bayern Munich and England National Team are next in the betting at odds of 15/2 and 10/1 respectively to secure Klopp’s services, while Borussia Dortmund completes the top five in the market at 10/1.

Update: 18.06.24

Jurgen Klopp has left Liverpool and has been replaced at Anfield by Arno Slot, however where will the German end up this summer?

Left for pastures new

Jurgen Klopp was seen as a successful manager at Liverpool and he did manage to win the Premier League and Champions League trophies during his time in charge. Nevertheless, he has now left for pastures new and it’s far from certain where he will end up. Liverpool have only won a single Premier League title and they failed to add to that at the end of 2023/24, a disappointment for the Reds fans in Klopp’s final season in charge. The general consensus is that Klopp will take the reins at the German national side although that post is currently filled by Julian Nagelsmann who has extended his contract until the FIFA World Cup in 2026.

Plenty of alternatives

Should Nagelsmann stay until the end of his contract and Klopp decide not to wait that long, the alternatives open to him are extensive. Many clubs would be more than happy to have Klopp on board (assuming they could afford him) and foremost amongst there are Barcelona who are a best price of 6/1 to sign the German manager. Next in the betting are Bayern Munich who are best odds of 8/1 to lure Klopp back to home soil while Real Madrid are a 12/1 shot. Jurgen Klopp was manager of Borussia Dortmund from June 2008 to July 2015 and he is a 12/1 shot to become next Borussia Dortmund manager.

Update: 07.02.24

The dream is on for Germany supporters, however they must wait until the end of the 2023/24 campaign before they can perhaps start celebrating the arrival of Jurgen Klopp from Merseyside.

It still isn’t known where Jurgen Klopp will decide to move to once he leaves Liverpool at the end of the season but the chances are that he will either take the reins at a Bundesliga side or alternatively he may well take charge of the German national team. The latter does appear likely given that German football association (DFB) decided to dispense with the services of Hansi Flick less than twelve months before the 2024 European Championships. Since then, former RB Leipzig and Bayern Munich coach Julian Nagelsmann was appointed by the DFB but only until the Euros come to an end.

The German newspapers are speculating whether Klopp’s next position will be as head coach of the national team, however many fans accept that patience will be needed. The timeline ahead of the World Cup in 2026 is rather complicated given that the national side will need to have a new head coach in place once Nagelsmann  leaves in August. Klopp has made it clear that he won’t be coaching any side throughout 2024/25 and as such, the DFB would need to appoint someone in a caretaker capacity.

The odds on the Liverpool manager taking the reins at the Germany national team as his next position have been slashed to as low as 2/9 (best price 2/5), while a move to La Liga side Barcelona is next in the market at a best price of 8/1 (lowest odds 5/1).

16/1 –  England National Team

16/1 –  AC Milan

Once he leaves Liverpool at the end of the current campaign, Jurgen Klopp will be free to take charge at another club or perhaps even a national team, however where will he end up this summer?

Since announcing that he will be leaving Liverpool at the end of the 2023/24 campaign, Jurgen Klopp’s next managerial appointment has been open to much speculation. The German manager has already stated that he doesn’t intend to take charge at any other Premier League side after clinching multiple trophies with the Reds, his trophy haul consisting of the Champions League trophy, Premier League trophy, Club World Cup, UEFA Super Cup, FA Cup and EFL Cup.

Once his time at Liverpool comes to an end, it is fairly certain that the German’s services will be in huge demand and the bookmakers are united in where his next appointment will be. As things stand, it seems that the most likely destination for Klopp will be back to his homeland where he seems destined to take charge of the German national team at a best price of just 2/5 (lowest odds 2/9). The current Germany head coach is Julian Nagelsmann who is one of the market leaders for Next Liverpool Manager.

Second favourite to secure the services of Klopp are Barcelona at a best price of 8/1 while their El Clasico rivals Real Madrid come in next at best odds of 11/1. Borussia Dortmund and Paris Saint-Germain complete the top five in the betting at a best price of 12/1 and 14/1 respectively while Klopp is a 16/1 shot (lowest odds 6/1) to replace Gareth Southgate as England manager.
