Nottingham Forest are on home soil for the first time this season against newly-promoted Sheffield United and boss Steve Cooper will be hopeful that his side can continue the fine home form which they enjoyed in the latter stages of 2022/23.

Encouraging signs

Nottingham Forest’s 2023/24 Premier League campaign got off to a disappointing start when they were beaten 2-1 at Arsenal on the opening weekend, however there were a few encouraging signs from that outing. Squad investment

Forest did extremely well to avoid relegation back into the Championship last season and while sections of the support had been calling for the dismissal of Steve Cooper earlier in the campaign, the club’s patience with their manager ultimately paid dividends. Having invested in the squad during the summer months, the pressure will once again be on Cooper to deliver and while the performance in their season opener was encouraging, this is nevertheless a results business.

Injuries

This first home game of the campaign gives Nottingham Forest an opportunity to get some points on the board and with the visitors struggling with several injuries, we envisage the hosts dominating from the outset.
